Sa Ràpita
Sa Ràpita is the main tourist centre of the municipality of Campos and one of the most significant locations on the southern coast of Mallorca. Its current appeal is based on a well-established marina and its direct connection to Ses Covetes and Es Trenc beach, internationally known for its natural landscape, white sand, and shallow waters. This continuous and protected coastal environment enhances the quality of the shoreline and limits intensive urban development.
Unlike many coastal areas on the island, Sa Ràpita did not originate as a fishing village. Historically, the population of Campos was focused on agriculture and remained largely disconnected from the sea, which for centuries was seen as a source of danger due to pirate and corsair incursions. This delayed coastal settlement and resulted in a later, more controlled and low-density development.
The shift began in the early 20th century with the construction of small holiday huts and private boat shelters. The founding of the Sa Ràpita Yacht Club in 1969 marked a turning point, establishing recreational boating and a development model centred on leisure, tranquillity, and proximity to nature.
Today, this historical evolution positions Sa Ràpita as a highly valued location within the premium real estate market, defined by its closeness to protected natural areas, its non-massified character, and strong long-term value preservation potential.
