The real estate market in Spain is undergoing a historic transformation: single buyers have overtaken married buyers in home purchases for the first time. According to sources, in 2024, 42.1% of purchases were made by singles, while married couples accounted for 41.8%.
This change reflects an evolution in living and consumption trends. Factors such as financial independence, the postponement of marriage and the rise of teleworking have led many singles to opt for buying a home rather than renting. In addition, flexible mortgage conditions have made it easier for more people to access property without having to share expenses with a partner.
It should also be noted that 7.6% of buyers are separated persons and 6.4% are unmarried couples, showing the diversification of the buyer profile compared to previous periods. The growing demand for smaller, more central homes, adapted to individual lifestyles, is setting the course for the sector.
From aProperties Real Estate we see this trend as a great opportunity to adapt the real estate offer to the new market needs. The personalisation of searches, flexibility in financing options and a commitment to functional and well-located homes will be key in this new scenario.
