Deià
After the Christian conquest, Deià was awarded to the Count of Roussillon and was part of Valldemossa until 1583. The cultivation of olive trees and citrus fruits, the raising of the Majorcan black pig and the fishing of its coasts contributed to the growth of the municipality. Nowadays, given the practically unaltered beauty of its landscape and its lifestyle, the population combines agriculture, crafts and plastic arts with tourism and a very controlled and integrated construction with its impressive natural landscape setting.
