Bocairent
Bocairent is a historic and charming town located inland in the Province of Valencia, in the Vall d’Albaida region of Spain. Perched on a rocky hillside and surrounded by the scenic Sierra de Mariola Natural Park, Bocairent’s old quarter is noted for its medieval layout and narrow steep streets that give the town a unique atmosphere, as if it were carved from stone itself. The historic centre has been declared a national historic-artistic site.
Among the town’s highlights are the Covetes dels Moros (hand-carved rock caves), the ice storage caves (neveros), the rock-hewn bullring (one of the oldest in the Valencia region), and the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption, along with other fascinating monuments like a rock monastery.
Bocairent also offers abundant outdoor opportunities — from hiking trails through aromatic landscapes to panoramic viewpoints — making it a great destination for those who love culture, nature, and authentic rural Spanish heritage.
