Benifaio
Benifaió (in Spanish, Benifayó) is a municipality and town in the province of Valencia, within the Valencian Community (Spain). It is part of the Ribera Alta comarca and has a population of 12,130 inhabitants, according to data from the INE (2024).
Historically, the town has also been known as Benifayó de Espioca, referring to the parish it belonged to in the Middle Ages, and as Benifayó de Falcó, after the Falcó de Belaochaga family, lords of the municipality between 1612 and 1872.
Benifaió is located 25 kilometers from the city of Valencia, on the border with the Ribera Baja and Huerta Sur comarcas. The municipality is crossed by major roads such as the Mediterranean Motorway (A-7) and the regional road CV-42, which connects Almusafes with Algemesí, as well as local roads that provide access to Almusafes and Alfarp (CV-520).
